Newsmy X0 - Most stylish player ever?
comment: 6 | Thursday, April 30 (2009) 05:20PM | Posted by Michael
I've seen some stylish players in my day, but the X0 from Newsmy takes the cake. With its completely mirrored finish, it looks more like an accessory in a cosmetics bag, than an MP3 player. It's also incredibly thin, at just 5.5mm's. The X0 has a 1.5" OLED screen and what appear to be touch-sensitive controls. It isn't all eye candy either; The X0 supports MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE, and AVI files. It also has an FM tuner, Voice recorder, and an e-book reader built-in.

The X0 has to be the shiniest player I've seen, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Even Apple wised up and removed the shiny backing from their iPods. The XO is bound to be scratch and fingerprint magnet when it gets released later this Spring. Pricing and capacity info have yet to be released, but we'll pass it along when we get it.

An e-book reader on a screen that small? If this is priced right, has generally acceptable sq and more than 4gb of space I may try it out.

I laughed at that. I figure it just has a generic UI that they put on their players, and an e-book function was already there.

The UI is whats going to make this thing attractive, or not. On its own it may look pretty, but once it boots up it might end up looking uglier than chinese knockoff mp3 players.

I have to admit though it sure looks nice...love how the edges get real thin..

I've seen many pretty renders by these Chinese companies but they don't look attractive at all in real life. It's mainly due to the poor materials and fit & finish they have.
