A few weeks ago I was feeling pretty glum about being an editor of a Creative fansite. With releases like the ZEN Moo, how could you blame me? That feeling changed last week with the arrival of the Zii EGG. The new touchscreen player has created a lot of buzz around the net. Not only from Creative fans at epiZENter, but also from the supposed opposition. The Apple Blog says the EGG "may be the first to truly deserve the title “iPhone Killer.”" Here's some of the latest news from epiZENter, of course focusing mainly on the Zii EGG:

Creative's stocks soar with news of the Zii EGG and THX Partnership

Creative's stocks rose 31% today, marking an 11-month high. The rise was attributed to both the Zii EGG, as well as a new partnership with THX.

Cnet Asia gets hands on the Zii EGG

Cnet Asia have provided a nice first look. In the video we find out that Creative will be shipping the player with their "Plazma" OS, and will provide Android with a future firmware upgrade.

Zii EGG - 3D Games Demo

The built-in accelerometer, and powerful 3D capabilities of the Zii chip makes for a great gaming device. Popular mobile gaming company ideaWorks has recently announced a partnership with Creative to bring their Airplay gaming platform over to the EGG.

Looking at that stocks chart only makes me think of one thing;

Apple's over exaggeration of certain achievements, which basically reflects Steve Jobs' reality distortion field. No matter how crap, or how great Apple is doing, there is always a way to sugar coat and spin around a story to make it look better than it really is. Apple is AMAZING at doing this, if you guys watch keynote, theyre always, ALWAYS talking about numbers, most of them insignificant.

This is what Creative needs to do; build some partnerships, advertise a lot like Apple, overhype their own product by acquiring some RDF tactics and get people convinced, even if the product isnt as great as it may be, and with the hardware specs posted from Creative about their product, it doesnt look like theyre lined up for failure, not unless of course Apple starts taking some cheap jabs at them during their next keynote (they usually do, remember when Jobs complained about the Rio Karma, or whatever, for having a small screen before announcing the iPod shuffle with NO screen? Yeah).

Good luck Creative, I hope you prosper, I'm tired of the Apple monopoly and competition only brings better products for the consumer anyway, either that or better prices. Its a win-win situation.
