Cowon forgets about DAP's to make a USB Drive

I just looked in on Cowon's Korean site to see if that rumor about the E2 and iAudio 9 was true. Instead, their front page greeted me with a flat piece of metal with the words 'Don't Forget Me" on the front. A new MP3 player perhaps? Nope. It looks like Cowon is now in the flash drive business.

The UM1 is a USB drive ranging in size from 2 to 16GB's. The sleek design, and "Chrome Black" and "Glossy Gold" colors gives the drive a high-end look. It has a loop-hole at the top, and is apparently waterproof according to Cowon. The UM1 ranges in price from 18,900 to 75,900 Korean Won, or about $16 to $64US. As long as Cowon remembers to keep making great MP3 players, I'm fine with whatever else they want to get into.

What a waste of their energy... Get back to making awesome PMPs. I wish the S9 had speakers and wifi with some kind of webkit browser.

S9 + wifi would be nice.

I'd like to see improved speed though, more fluid user interface. Either way, its still a GREAT device.

I quite like that, it's neat and just a little bit different.

I still think the USB key in the shape of a key is the coolest one. It's made by Lacie.

Nah, cheesy.
This is subtle, stylish.

Just a shame that I doubt they'll make it out of Korea - at least not at a sane price.

Yeah, I think this looks classy. Before I saw the "Don't forget me" inscription, I actually thought it was an Ipod shuffle competitor. It looks a bit like the 3rd gen model.

Step666: cheesy or not, it still looks cool on a keychain, having it with you everywhere.

If you don't want to pay the Korea domestic / Cowon markup, try this:
I love OEMs
