Creative ZEN X-Fi2 Now Shipping
comment: 6 | Monday, October 05 (2009) 12:07PM | Posted by Michael

Creative's first touchscreen player, the ZEN X-Fi2 is now shipping from various retailers. Some members have already received theirs and have given their first impressions in the forum at epiZENter. UK Gadget site, Tech Radar also published their review recently and gave it a 3 out of 5 stars. They concluded:

"All in all the Creative Zen X-Fi 2 is a decent MP3 player. However, with the Zii Egg on the horizon, it's hard to recommend buying this player. We prefer the original Zen X-Fi, mainly because it too offers X-Fi audio, and yet the interface is more zippy - the touchscreen doesn't really offer anything more than gimmickry. That said, if you're in the market for a new player and you're looking to spend around £100, you could do a lot worse than the X-Fi 2."

I've been craving a new player from Creative for some time now, but perhaps I too should wait a little longer in the hopes of a Zii consumer model.

Pond, I don't think Creative knows what SD integration is. They provided a video showing the ability to import files from the microSD card. You can't play files off the card, and have them integrated with your onboard memory files.

If you can at least copy files from the card onto the player without having to use a PC for that then it is a progress from an earlier version. Not a full integration though but makes this slot more usable.

I am glad this new ZEN supports FLAC and that they finally embraced touch screen tech
