CES 2007: iriver Day 1
comment: 18 | Monday, January 08 (2007) 03:30AM | Posted by Michael
While we anxiously await ground coverage from our CES team (Austin and Rob), I thought I'd share with you some iriver eye candy. This year iriver is packing a punch and plans on releasing 12 new products. This is a whole lot compared to their dismal showing at CES '06. Here's the breakdown of what we'll see on Day one:
iriver clix2 ![]() Is it called the U20, or the clix2? Who cares! this player looks hot. Just look at the sizing difference compared to the original clix. Features are comparable to the original, except this time it has an AMOLED display, video at 30fps, and higher capacities. iriver T60 ![]() The iriver T60 appears to be a pretty standard DAP. The design is pretty futuristic to say the least. Upon first glance it reminded me of a space pod from 2001: A Space Odyssey. iriver W10 ![]() I previously mentioned the W10 to be a GPS/communications device, but it seems like it will have a prominent role as a media player. The W10 is a flash player that has Wi-Fi capabilities allowing you to get music from sources such as Rhapsody. The widescreen display is touch-sensitive and will come in 2 and 4GB capacities. iriver Mplayer ![]() M-I-C-K-E-Y, err.. sorry. I haven't heard of any partnerships between Disney and iriver but this player resembles the famed mouse an awful lot. The Mplayer is a pretty basic player along the lines of the iPod shuffle. Click the link below for a few more products from iriver iriver B20 ![]() The B20 is a flash player that is reminiscent of the clix/U10 in looks. It is DMB-TV capable and has built-in speakers. This will most likely only be sold in Korea Unit2 ![]() Another product that probably won't make it to our stores in N. America is the Unit2. This device seems to do it all. It has a built in DVD player, 7" display, 2.1 channel speakers, Wi-Fi capabilities, TV, and phone. Interestingly the remote doubles as the phone. I'm glad to see iriver expanding to the home entertainment industry. We'll hopefully have some live shots of these in the next few days as well as more details on what they can do.
