Archos gets into the Netbook craze
comment: 11 | Monday, January 12 (2009) 09:58AM | Posted by Michael
Remember when Archos made PMP's? Well technically they still do, but they're calling them "Internet Media Tablets" now. There's been rumors for a while that they were going to release a netbook, and now its official. Archos quietly unveiled the new product at CES 2009. They're calling it the"Archos 10", which I'm assuming stands for its 10.2" screen (just like the Archos 5 and 7).

Notice that I said Archos wasn't making this new computer, just releasing it. It turns out this is just a rebrand of an existing netbook called the Hasee MJ125. Check out the specs below.

Features:

  • Display: 10.2" (1024 x 600 resolution)
  • Processor: Intel Atom 1.6Ghz
  • Memory: 1GB DDR memory
  • HDD: 160GB
  • Battery: 3 cell battery (ick)
  • OS: Windows XP
  • Dimensions: 258 x189 x 28mma
  • Miscellaneous: WiFi, Ethernet, Webcam, 3 USB ports, etc..

Every time you turn around there's a new netbook from someone. In fact, it's been statistically proven that Asus comes out with a new eee every 4 minutes. No word on whether Archos has actually done something with this netbook besides putting their branding on it. I'd like to hope they at least modified it a bit to provide some sort of dedicated media player. Pricing and a release date have also not been confirmed, but we'll keep you posted as always.
