Not sure if anyone was interested in the
X3000, but that one sure looked a bit classier than these things: the RCA RD2112 (256MB), 2115 (512MB), 2117 (1GB) and 2415(P/G). Still have troubles coming up with decent product names, RCA? Tsk tsk.
Anyway, the RD2112/2115/2117 are all part of a new range of DAPs - we'll just dub it the "RD211x series" (pictured left) for originality's sake. Apart from a 50-page
manual (half of it consisting out of warranty info and disclaimers), RCA's site only lists a template
page for all of these units so far. A Canadian store called "The Source" (part of the wellknown Circuit City Borg Collective) disclosed some
additional information for us. Turns out it'll run for about 20 hours on a single AAA battery (see manual), comes with a "splash proof" design and a 2-line LCD screen. Whoopee-doo. The manual also shows some info on the integrated USB pendrive and Audible compatibility.
All of this will cost about 129 Dollars (RD2115)... Canadian Dollars, that is (110 USD). There'll be a special intro price for those eager enough to grab this 512MB random-catch-of-the-day right away: 109 CAD (or 95 US bucks).
Furthermore, there's the weirdly-shaped
RD2415 series (pictured right). Comes in both red and green and has a built-in, foldable pendrive as well. Believe it or not - we've spotted this one too, long,
looooong ago. Special offer here: 512MB at 109.99 CAD (
LINK) rather than the "regular" 129.99 bucks. Please, someone stop me from exploding with joy now.
