Lightning-quick CNet reviews iriver Clix, WMP11, URGE
comment: 17 | Monday, May 15 (2006) 08:52AM | Posted by Lone
That was fast wasn't it? CNet already has a review up of the brand-spanking new iriver Clix, and unlike most DAPs they review that aren't named iPod or Zen Vision:M, they love it, rating it an 'excellent' 8.7/10. It seems like the new interface and integration with Windows Media Player 11 and the URGE music store is quite impressive, along with the already sleek hardware. The good: Sleek and stylish, the iRiver Clix offers a unique, intuitive interface and comes with extras such as an FM radio; a voice recorder; an alarm clock; support for OGG files and subscription content; and photo, video, and text viewing. The Clix includes SRS Wow sound effects, it has great battery life, and it's priced competitively. The bad: The iRiver Clix's ample screen is a magnet for fingerprints, and the device maxes out at only 2GB. The cool and useful cradle is sold separately. The bottom line: The iRiver Clix is a superbly designed MP3 player that's easy to use and packed with pretty much every feature in the book. If you're looking for a stylish Janus-compatible device and you don't need a boatload of storage, this is your player. LINK Hmm, so what about WMP11 and URGE? CNet decided to have a go at reviewing those as well. Both are still currently in Beta, but aside from typical bugs that infest the Beta release of a product, they're turning out well in the reviewers' eyes, each scoring 8.0/10 (WMP11, URGE). We've heard from many that the key to Apple's iPod is the seamless integration (buzzwords) between transfer software, music store, and player. This effort from iriver, Microsoft, and MTV may be the first that actually emphasizes reaching that goal. Latest Forum Posts
