Cowon intros the L2
comment: 5 | Friday, June 01 (2007) 06:16AM | Posted by Michael
Last year Cowon expanded their product offerings with the N2, a device primarily used for GPS navigation. In addition to the navigation software, it provided a boatload of features including DMB TV support, and the great Audio/Video support that Cowon has spoiled us with over the years. They've just released a successor to the N2, called the L2.
![]() This time around, the L2 is a better GPS device, having double the onboard memory of the original and a faster processor. Unfortunately the aspects that made the device a PMP have been downgraded in a few areas. The player only comes with one SD-slot (the N2 had two), it does not provide AV-out ports, nor a USB-Host function, and doesn't support Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, or WMV files.
It's a bit unsettling to see a Cowon player without support for Ogg, and FLAC, but that's mainly because of the type of device it is. If Cowon really wanted this to double as a PMP they would've included more internal memory and functionality. Despite seeing their reasoning, I would've liked to see them do just that.
