Meet the Trekstor i.beat blaxx
comment: 21 | Thursday, August 23 (2007) 09:23PM | Posted by Michael
IFA kicks off in just one week, and it'll be host to a heap of new players. Hell, a lot of companies couldn't even wait for the start of this event to show us their new stuff. Along with that flash Vibez we mentioned a while ago, Trekstor will be releasing a few new players. The sexiest of the bunch being the blaxx. If the Samsung K3 and Olympus m:robe 100 mated, their offspring would be this player. The feature-set isn't too bad either, check it out:

Features

  • Capacity: 2 and 4GB
  • Display: 1.3" TFT (128 x 160 resolution, 260K colors)
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, Ogg, and WAV
  • Video: SMV
  • FM Tuner/Recorder
  • Line-in and Voice Recorder
  • SRS WOW
  • Battery Life: 15 hours
  • UMS Device
  • Dimensions: 34mm x 81mm x 8mm (27g)
  • Price: 119.99 and 149.99 Euros

With all of these players coming out before the event, I'm hoping there are still some players at IFA that we don't know about yet. We'll of course keep you updated on all the latest from the trade show, so make sure to check back here often.

Update:

I had the sneaking suspicion when looking at this player last night, that I've seen it before. I was relieved of those worries after reading the Press Release. In it, there's a quote from Daniel Szmigiel, Executive director at Trekstor. He says the following: "Our i.Beat blaxx is truly a new movie player on the market". Wrong Mr. Szmigiel. The i.beat blaxx is actually a rebranding of the M-Cody M30. While I have mixed feelings on the whole rebranding thing in general, I think it's just plain wrong to blatantly lie to the public like this. The blaxx is a nice player from the sound of it, just don't pass it off as something original.

Thanks ksy
