Feast your eyes on the Sony NWZ-X1000 (aka Walkman Touch)
comment: 49 | Wednesday, January 07 (2009) 01:26PM | Posted by Michael
Well it looks like the rumors about a Walkman touch were indeed true and it looks mighty fine. Sadly Sony has kept to their odd naming scheme and are calling this one the NWZ-X1000. Here's our first look at it:
![]() Like most Sony players, the X1000 looks like it's built really well and features a granite-like surface. It has a 3.0" touchscreen, but will also have dedicated buttons at the top for most of your regular functions. We don't have the full list of specs yet, but according to the previous rumors it'll have support for MP3, WMA, AAC, H.264, MPEG-4, and WMV. It'll feature a built-in WiFi whcih will be used to browse the web, and have integration with youtube and Amazon's MP3 store. There's also a built-in S-Master digital amplifier, and a digital noise cancellation function. To the delight of high-capacity lovers, the X1000 series will come in 16 and 32GB flavors. There's still a lot we've yet to learn about this player, so make sure to check back in a few days when it's officially announced. via engadget Thanks scottder Update: Here's a video showing the new Xseries in action courtesy of stuff.tv In the video the narrator says the X1000 uses an OLED screen, so far we had been lead to believe it was going to be using an AMOLED screen, however as this is coming from stuff.tv we'll have to wait for official specs to be sure, as they made a mistake last year regarding the Cowon O2's screen, claiming it was an AMOLED screen when in fact it was only a TFT LCD.
