I would have to second that. I used the first beta on my WM6.1 device, but an on screen keyboard on a 2.8in screen isn't the best(for some reason the hardware keyboard would not work at all).

I think those soundbars do offer that surround sound mimic if you turn that feature on your tv(if it is offered or your set).

Soundbars shouldn't be compared to standard stereo speakers - they're designed to mimic surround-sound set-ups are they not?

Well some are worse than other, and I will admit that. I know on my 11in Vaio TT, I can hear the stereo separation, despite volume and SQ being average at best. But, that kind of leave the question what about those tv's that have the speakers on the bottom, or top(in a long block-ish format)?

Always had it in mind that it was part of the reason that laptop speakers are dreadful.

@pond I doubt that is the case as laptop speakers, and TV speakers are kind of close and you can hear the difference a bit?

All I know is that they're supposed to sound really good - mono or not.

Mono speakers, whilst not ideal, do sometimes sound pretty good.
My Sony Ericsson MBS-100 sounds surprisingly good, despite being mono and bluetooth.

Apparently the Altec Lansing In-Motion range are about as good as you can get from a portable speaker.

They're not too ridiculously priced to the best of my knowledge but I'm not sure what your budget is.
