Introduction

History

The flash player market has been changing rapidly over these past months. Prices are at an all time low and many companies are taking notice of this opportunity. A few months ago iriver revealed the U10, a player that automatically caught my eyes, and those of many other members. It was a beautiful device with a lot of great features. It was not only one of the first mainstream flash players with a color screen, but also one of the first to add video. Unfortunately, the U10 took a few hits due to issues with the interface, as well as the high price tag. What everyone truly wished for, was a higher capacity.

Is it just another U10?

That was the question many of us asked when we first heard about irivers upcoming player. DAPreview were the first to get some hints about the player, directly from a fellow member who happened to work for Microsoft. When I first saw it, the specifications sounded nearly identical to those of the U10. The only thing that was different was the capacity. It was now up to 2GB. We were reassured by this member, that the new player may look like the U10 on the outside but is built from the ground up inside. I picked up this player to see if these claims were true, and without any further delay here is my review of the.

The first thing that actually caught my eye about this player was not what it could do or even how it looks, it was its name. For a while now, iriver has used a weird naming pattern, usually with a letter and the number 10 (B10, G10, H10, N10, etc.). I think the name clix is a very nice improvement in this department.
