How does the screen so far compare to the X series? And is the S-series in that pic? If so how the sq out of the speakers?

Does the Egg come with built in memory or did you have to use an SD card?

Yes, that's the Sony X/32gb pictured.

The screen on the Zii EGG compares very favorably with the Sony's OLED, though the blacks certainly aren't as intense, but...

The Zii EGG's screen is shockingly bright, and colors are very vibrant and 'alive'.

My Zii EGG is the 32gb version, as I believe all of the Developer's Editions are.

The built-in speakers are about on par with those on my Zen X-Fi, though not quite as good as the one's on my Sony NWZ-S545 (also pictured) - IMO.

Remember that the Zii EGG/DE is not a retail/consumer product and is very 'rough around the edges', but one thing that I'm really happy about is that the player sounds better than ANY Creative DAP/PMP since the Zen MicroPhoto.

I'll even go so far as to say that it's the best sounding Creative player I've ever heard, and that's without any EQ/Z-Fi etc.

More To Come...

Yeah that what I was asking about the speakers on the Sony. But good to know.

How does the touchscreen, from your initial used compare to the Sony and the iPod Touch? Do you know if the SD files are integrated or not? Good news that is sounds comparable to the Zen MicroPhoto, but I take it not as good as a Zune, Cowon or Sony? Thank you, but at the same time damn it as your review makes me want this more. I keep thinking to myself this would be perfect if it also was a phone.

I'm listening to it as I type with absolutely no EQ/Effects whatsoever (mainly because they aren't implemented yet - LOL), and have little reservation stating that this is one of the better sounding DAP/PMPs I've heard in a very long time, and (in it's current state) gives any Cowon, Sony, Zune, Samsung, etc. a darned good run for their money.

When/If this thing get's 'fully baked', and is released to the consumer market, It's Going To Be Killer!

As far as the touch interface goes, let's just say that (in its current state of development) it's pretty rough and lacking in responsiveness, but Hey! it is a test mule, as opposed to a consumer product.

Does this have X-Fi switch or what not or will that be enabled later on? As for the touch I was referring more to accuracy than anything else.

How does Opera on this device compare to Opera 9.6 beta that is out for Windows Mobile devices? Does it support flash? Maybe a screen shot of it?

Thank you!

Wow! can't believe you got your hands on one, wasn't expecting to see one in the wild for a while. This along with the Zune HD have to be the most exciting players in years. Glad to hear the screen compares favourably to the OLED panel in the Sony x1000.

At this early stage, it's definitely rough around the edges but you can see the potential is definitely there. Would be interested to know how much further down the line creative are with the fw development and when we are likely to see a retail version. I actually like the look of the plasma OS too and the android option will be great to have too (HTC sense UI port maybe?). Hopefully the old 9 point multitouch will be smooth and silky once it's implemented too.

I will definitely be keeping a close eye on it's progress. Lets hope they manage to keep the retail price reasonable, knowing creative though they should do. Out of interest do creative players have drag and drop file transfer usually? If they do this will definitely be one advantage over the Zune.

Also....obviously there has been talk of this looking like an ipod touch/iphone and while It doesn't at all bother me either way, you would have to be blind not to see the resemblence. I personally think this looks as much like an ipod/iphone as the Meizu M8 and I hate the double standards by which people judge the M8 as a clone and this a normal device in it's own right.

Nevertheless it looks like it will be an absolute monster and I do decide to buy a big brand player any time soon, this is No.1 on my list.
