Many of you may have heard of Oracom, MobiBlu, Monolith, IOPS, Ezav or maybe Sorell. As you may know, these companies are very similar in a number of ways. They are all small Korean DAP companies, have never really left Korea, and are out of business or are suffering. Such companies are shadowed by large brands like Samsung, iriver, LG or Cowon. Many companies as such attempt rise from the tiny peninsula, and once again, a new company has been formed with difficulty.

"Ace" is a brand new brand that has been formed, and their first product is the S3. It is probabily most comparable to devices like the iriver Clix or Cowon D2. The design is actually rather nice, although bland, and the specs seem pretty decent as well:

Size: 88 x 57 x 11 mm
Display: 2.83" 260K color TFT LCD (QVGA)
Internal Memory: 2/4/8GB
External Memory: Micro SD
Battery: audio 15hr, video 4hr
Audio: mp3/wma/wav
Video: mpeg 4/avi/rm/vob/wmv/asf
Photo: jpeg
Other: Supports User EQ, sound effects, voice and fm recording, txt, and more.

Nothing much to say, but I am eager to see how this device turns out. [Linky]

No... as you know, I'm in Canada right now. Maybe if one of my friends gets their hands on one, I'll be able to. Or if it turns out well, I might even pick one up myself.

I'll pass...

Too many Teclast/Oracom/etc players have proven to be little more than a list of great features - very poorly executed.

Just received news that the device has a built in FM Transmitter, so you can enjoy music in your car without buying an extra device. Don't know if this has been done before, but if your car doesn't have an AUX port, this is a pretty cool idea.

I know LG has a few phones on the Sprint network(CDMA) that has this feature. It was the LG Fusic and what ever the successor is called. But yeah.

Neuros HD player was the first DAP (i believe) to have an integrated FM transmitter.

First review (very quick and rushed looking....): [Linky]

Anyways, some points that I found interesting:

- Sound is supposed to be surprisingly nice.
- BT does not support custom EQ or sound effects.
- External memory maxes out at 4GB, so you can only have up to 12GB in total.
- UI is rapid and responsive.
- Has an external speaker.

I have got to say, I am surprised by all the features this device has to offer. Currently, in Korea, there is a sort of distrust for Chinese companies, and this is also the case for smaller Korean DAP companies. This company is trying to change that, but I am still a bit hesitant to buy anything from them... I'll have to read more reviews.
